2015 Chevrolet SS vs. 2015 Chrysler 300
The 2015 Chevrolet SS and the 2015 Chrysler 300 are both sophisticated, upscale, high-performance, rear-wheel drive sedans. A few years ago, it would have been basically impossible to find a traditional, large rear-wheel drive sedan, but people have demanded the superior handling and performance from their bigger sedans. The question is, which one of these two vehicles comes out ahead when you put them side by side?
Powertrain and Performance
Every version of the Chevrolet SS is equipped with a seriously powerful 6.2L V8 that makes 415 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. That propels the big sedan from 0 to 60 mph only 4.9 seconds. Both a six-speed automatic and a six-speed manual are available, and rear-wheel drive is standard across the board.
The base Chrysler 300 is equipped with only a 3.6L V6 that generates 292 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. That model will take 6.9 seconds to get up to 60 mph. The 300 is also available with a more powerful 5.7L V8 that cranks out 363 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque, but this engine still doesn’t come close to the performance figures that the Chevrolet SS is capable of.
When it comes down to cabin space, the SS offers more—and isn’t that what you want from a large sedan? The SS gives you more front leg room, more front and rear head room, more front and rear hip room, and more rear shoulder room than the 300. The Chevrolet SS also offers more trunk space than the Chrysler 300, so you can take all of your luggage with you.
Features and Options
When it comes to features, the base SS comes standard with features like remote start, OnStar Telematics with emergency notification, 4G LTE connectivity, in-car WiFi hotspot, and more. The Chrysler 300 is lacking all of those features.
